5 Minute Makeup For The Busy (Happy) Mom

5 Minute Makeup For The Busy (Happy) Mom

As a follow up to How Motherhood Changed my Beauty Routine, today I'm sharing  my actual daytime makeup routine. If you've got five minutes to spare in the mornings, you can achieve this look  in just five steps!

It's become less and less of a priority these days because obviously sleep, brushing my teeth and washing my face trump looking pretty, but I must admit I do have an extra pep in my step and I’m overall happier when I take the five minutes to do a quick makeup application in the morning.

It literally only takes 5 minutes or less!

1. Skin prep is key

After cleansing my face, I prep my skin with serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen before applying makeup. I recently started using the Glow Maker by Maelove and I am hooked! It feels amazing on the skin and preps the skin for moisturizer perfectly. Did I mention the benefits?!

  • Lightweight and absorbs instantly

  • Gentle enough for sensitive skin

  • Treats hyperpigmentation

  • Smooths and hydrates

After the serum absorbs I put on my fave moisturizer Super Phyto Rich Moisturizer by DNA Skin. It's super lightweight and perfect for my combination skin.

And finally, I apply my sunscreen. Right now I'm using Neutrogena's Ulta Sheer Dry-Touch sunscreen and I love it because it's not heavy like most sunscreens and doesn't clog my pores and cause breakouts like others.

2. A little coverage goes a long way

My skin isn’t perfect and Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Light foundation has the right amount of coverage to hide my imperfections. It has a buildable coverage so I can decide how sheer or full I want to wear it, and it's super hydrating. I can’t forget… I love applying it with my Beauty Blender! It gives you the look of a professional makeup artist without the cost.

3. Lash boost to revive tired eyes

Mascara is a must for your mama makeup kit! It helps me look awake even when I don’t feel that way… haha. My go to right now is Better Than Sex Mascara by Too Faced. It gives you amazing fullness and length. And for extra curl, I reach for my trusty eye lash curler. Heck, some days I just opt for my moisturizer and mascara.

4. Cheek color touch to look alive

I just love how a little color on your cheeks give you some dimension and helps you look alive. My go-to is MAC’s Powder Blush, it comes in 18 shades and 4 finishes... my fave shade right by now going into fall is Peacehs but there’s a shade for everyone. I love the clean matte finish on this blush!

5. Finish with a lip enhance

I finish up my look with Dior’s Addict Lip Maximizer and Stark Naked lip pencil by Urban Decay. I love the lip gloss because it gives your lips a full pouty look even though it’s sheer… and the pencil is the perfect nude. A little lip color goes a long way!

Give yourself five!

Seriously though… give yourself 5 minutes in the morning. You're so worth it!
