2018 Family Holiday Photos
I hadn't been feeling the greatest, but I finally got that sudden burst of energy they tell you women get during pregnancy. This was one of the reasons I kept putting off our family holiday photos until last week… I literally couldn't stomach sitting through a photo session. It requires so much energy from a mama who has to chase around two little boys who couldn’t care less about taking photos. If you read my blog about holiday photos last year then you know wassup!
But I finally managed to schedule a family session with one of my fave photographers Guy Galstyan who also happens to be a mama of two boys herself and understands the struggle… and I’m happy to report it went smoothly!
I wanted this year’s photos to be timeless and chic. I asked for black and white photos because I wanted the focus to be on us as a family and not fancy coordinated outfits and an elaborate setup. Just US. I really love how the photos turned out and they depict our personalities so well.
The simple set up for the shoot was perfect for our family with two rambunctious little boys, a pregnant (tired) mama, and a busier than ever workaholic papa. Guy came over to our home with a simple black backdrop and we sat on our wood floors together, which made the shots super raw and authentic. Bonus: we got it done in one hour, phew! Thank you, Guy!
All mamas know that getting through family pics with kiddos requires a little bribing. This year, I promised Ryan a trip to the toy store to pick out a new toy after our photo shoot if he was good and "helpful" with his baby brother... the whole time. Leo would be good if Ryan was good. We did well for the first half hour or so... then, even with a toy bribe reminder every few minutes, sheeesh, Ryan got burned out. That's when we brought out the M&Ms as reinforcement haha. Candy plus a little screen time did the trick and helped us get a few more shots in, and then it was a wrap!
I created our official 2018 holiday card with Parabo Press!
At Parabo Press they get it… they know we all have hundreds of pics on our phones that we have no clue what to do with. They take your photos and create holiday cards, home décor, photo books and more so you can fill your house with joy and memories!
I just loved their holiday card styles right away… they embody my taste and preference of everything simple and chic! You have to take a look for yourself. And mamas, don’t worry if you haven’t ordered your holiday cards yet. It’s not too late to order with Parabo with expedited shipping to receive your cards in time for Christmas.
And if you are you a last minute planner like me and are still looking to get your holiday pics done, it’s also not too late to squeeze in a mini session with the talented Guy Galstyan.
Even though it can be tiresome and stressful, I would never want to go without our holiday photo cards. It’s become a tradition for our family! It’s a great way to keep in touch with family and good friends and I know I still love getting snail mail… there’s just something so special about it. And not to mention how precious these memories will be in the years to come as the boys get older and our family grows. I can’t even begin to imagine how next year’s photos will be with a brand new little one! Mama tip when shooting with littles: keep it short, and a little bribe never hurt nobody!
